How To Keep Your Walls Looking Fresh

When you consider all of the things you do to keep your house clean, you probably don’t give much consideration to your walls. Over time, your walls can collect dust, dirt, and even bacteria. Keep them looking their best with these tips and tricks.

  • A little dusting goes a long way. The easiest way to remove dirt, dust, and debris that shorten the life of the paint covering your walls is to use a microfiber cloth to wipe the surface down. This can be done on a daily or weekly basis to maintain. Don’t forget to wipe your ceiling! Once you’ve wiped every surface, vacuum the floors to remove anything that may have fallen.
  • Give a deep clean to high traffic areas. The wall area surrounding thermostats, light switches, and outlets can collect grease and oil from your hands. Unlike other areas of your walls that are rarely touched, these surfaces require a deeper clean. Remove surface grime with wall-washing soap. You can make your own by combining a cup of borax with 2 tablespoons of dishwashing detergent in a gallon of warm water.
  • The best offense is a good defense. Paint Shield® is the first paint that kills 99.9% of bacteria, including Staph (Staphylococcus aureus) and E. coli (Escherichia coli). If your walls are in dire need of a refresher coat, this paint will keep the surface for up to 4 years. While this product was originally developed for health care facilities, athletic facilities, and schools, Paint Shield® is now being used in homes, too. From the kitchen to bathrooms and even the laundry room, you can fight bacteria throughout the home. With over 550 colors, it’s easy to implement into any existing design.

Maintain a wall-to-wall clean with this wall cleaning regimen. If you’re ready to implement microbicidal paint in your home or commercial space, contact Charlotte painters.
