Spring Into Your Move

The beautiful spring weather makes it the ideal time to plan and execute a move. There’s no danger of winter snow to make roads impassable, and no extreme heat or humidity, which make can make moving conditions undesirable if not physically dangerous.

Below are some reasons why spring is the best time to move into a new apartment or house:

Spring Cleaning: While cleaning is never something one usually looks forward to, there is something rewarding about spring cleaning – clearing clutter not only makes your house look better, but it makes you feel better as well. So before you even begin the process of packing, sort through your belongings and donate your gently used clothing and other items. Only bring what you absolutely need and use to your new place.

Not Peak Moving Season: Most families choose to relocate over the summer so that they aren’t pulling their kids out of school in the middle of the year and having them start again somewhere new. Therefore, moving in the spring can save you money and can be more convenient, especially if you don’t have kids. You may be tempted to do a winter move to save even more money, but keep in mind cold weather can ruin belongings like electronics should they be left in a truck for an extended period of time.

More Helpers: With longer days and nicer weather, more of your family and friends will be willing to help you organize, pack and move. People tend to like to be active in the spring, and moving is a great workout. However, if you have a lot of furniture and belongings, you may want to consider hiring a professional moving company to make the day less stressful for all involved.

Create a checklist to stay on track, purchase moving supplies like corrugated boxes, tape, bubble wrap, etc., far out in advance, and allow yourself enough time from start to finish.  Happy Spring Moving!
