Valentine’s Day Color Inspiration

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, you’ll see reds, pinks, and whites everywhere you look. It’s easy to feel inspired by all the love in the air, but it may seem difficult to incorporate the bold colors of the season into your home. Valentine’s Day color inspiration doesn’t mean you have to paint your house pink and fill it with hearts. Here are different color palettes and ideas for ways you can add Valentine’s Day colors into your home.

Valentine’s Day Palette #1: Red and white

Wood panels have made a comeback in interior décor. For a room with wood panel wainscoting, paint the panels white. Choose a deep red for the top half of the wall. This is a subtle way to incorporate Valentine’s Day colors into your home and works especially well in dining rooms.

In the kitchen, you can add a red backsplash. Not only is it an interesting change from the usual subway tile, but it’s an unexpected pop of color. White cabinets contrast the red and make the room feel more modern.

Valentine’s Day Palette #2: Purple, Red, White, Gray, Light Tan

Mixing colors in the same family with neutrals is another way to add inspiration from Valentine’s Day. The best way to execute this type of palette is with the accessories and accents in the room. For example, a neutral color wall in your bedroom leaves room for a comforter or duvet in the colors of the holiday. Add throw pillows to your bed for an extra pop of color or to neutralize.

Valentine’s Day Palette #3: Purple, white, beige, black

Pastels are inviting and relaxing. According to the expert Salisbury patiners, choosing a lavender color to accent a room that’s mainly white and beige creates a calming sense throughout the space. You can also add black furniture or décor to make those pieces in the room stand out.

Valentine’s Day Palette #4: Pink, beige, and white

A child’s bedroom is the perfect place to incorporate the color pink. It makes the room feel soft and feminine. You can include the shade in various depths. Try blush on three of the walls and a deeper pink on the wall behind the bed to act as an accent. Use beige, tan, and white for the bedding, accessories, and furniture in the room.

Valentine’s Day Palette #5: Red, brown, tan, and white

Does anyone think of Valentine’s Day and not think of chocolate? Using chocolate brown furnishings is one way to bring that richness into your home. Red walls nicely complement wood vanities, fixtures, and shelving units. Brighten the space by adding elements of white.

Wood floors in a dark brown works wonders in a foyer or entryway. Offset the floors with beige or tan walls and white moldings and trims. You can add in red elements through artwork or an area rug.

Drawing inspiration from Valentine’s Day colors can be done in a tasteful manner. You can make it as simple as adding the colors into a few pieces of decoration or you can paint an accent wall and make a noticeable change. It’s all about finding colors that complement and balance each other. For more help incorporating these colors into your home, contact Ally and Sandy, Overland Park, KS interior decorators.
