Kitchen Trends to Embrace This Fall

Does the start of the fall season make you want to update your kitchen? This year, refresh one of the busiest rooms in your home with the latest kitchen trends. These ideas are quick and easy, so you can ensure your renovations are completed ahead of all the holiday baking, cooking, and entertaining.

Here are five kitchen trends to embrace this fall:

  1. Muted Greens
Grey and greige in the kitchen are giving way to more natural color palettes. This fall, try incorporating muted green shades for a fresh new look. “Consider painting a kitchen island in olive or sage green. In fact, painted islands are another major kitchen trend right now, so you’ll get double the impact,” says a Saint John, NB, interior decorator. These shades are soothing and warm up a kitchen. Plus, colors like olive and sage will complement all the colors in your fall décor, like orange, peach, gold, brown, and red.
  2. Darker Stains
If muted green isn’t your thing, try restaining the wood pieces in your kitchen in a darker color. Dark wood stains add more warmth to a kitchen which is perfect for the cooler days and nights of fall. You can apply the stain to cabinets, islands, or any wood furniture that may be in the room. These darker woods can also soften the look of all-white kitchens if you are ready to update that look this fall.
  3. Vintage Farm Tables
Vintage furniture, such as a vintage farm table, is also gaining popularity in the kitchen. A vintage farm table isn’t just for dining. It can be a unique way to add an island or workstation into the kitchen without performing a major renovation. When you bring these larger pieces into the space, you’re adding visual interest, and they can serve as a great conversation piece. Even better, antiquing and vintage furniture shopping can be a great way to spend an afternoon weekend in the fall.
  4. Curves
Leave straight edges and lines in the summer. This fall, embrace all things curved. Try incorporating furniture or islands with curved legs and borders in your kitchen. Or add chairs with a curved or rounded seatback. These shapes will pair well with the curves of the pumpkins and gourds used in your fall decorating.
  5. Woven Lights
Fall is sweater weather, bringing to mind another kitchen trend to try. Woven lights are back in a big way. Like your favorite sweater, they add texture and warmth to wherever they’re hung. Consider replacing your pendant kitchen lights with woven pendant lights to soften the look and add natural elements to the kitchen, just like your favorite cardigan.

Fall in Love With This Year’s Kitchen Trends

If you want to refresh your kitchen ahead of the holidays, embrace some kitchen trends like muted greens, darker stains, and curved furniture, which all complement your fall décor and color palettes. Or try adding woven lights and vintage furniture pieces for visual interest. And since these refreshes are less time-consuming than significant renovations, you’ll still have plenty of time left to enjoy all your favorite fall activities this season.
